Our Adoption Process
1. Ready to adopt? Fill out our adoption application
All applications are reviewed to ensure a family is the right fit for a dog. We often receive several applications for one dog. Unfortunately, we can only pick one home. However, we may find that your application is an even better fit for another dog in our care!
2. Reference and Vet Checks
Underdog Rescue Ranch completes a background check that includes contacting personal references, as well as a veterinary check, to ensure our dogs are in safe hands.
3. Phone Conversation
Should your application be selected and your background checks return clear, our Adoption Coordinator will reach out to you and discuss the dog that you applied for. The conversation allows us to learn more about you and provides you a chance to ask us questions too!
4. Virtual Home Visit
A virtual home visit is required to ensure your home is a good fit for the dog. This can be done several ways, but generally we will ask you to provide pictures of your home. Virtual home visits are generally scheduled at the time of the phone interview.
5. Meet & Greet
Meet and Greets are the best part! This is the chance for you to meet the dog. This is generally coordinated between the foster and potential adopter, and approved by Underdog Rescue Ranch. It can be done at the foster or adopter’s home, or a neutral location like a park, depending on everyone’s comfort levels. Should you and the dog fall in love with each other, we can plan for the adoption!
Please note: applications are processed on a first-come, first-serve basis and adopting is given priority over fostering.
Adoption Fees:
Puppies under 1 years old: $300
Dogs 1 years old and up: $250
